Day 24 - The End

Day 24. Sunday, December 14. The sad end of a great saga. We arrive in Dallas/Fort Worth and are completely broken having sat in those Houdini seats once again. Next time we fly international we will go out of our way to get on a 777. Those seats are much more user friendly and have much more shoulder room. We have our declaration forms completely organized and itemized by city, local currency and USD conversions. We grab our luggage and they collect them without giving them more than a 3 second glance. Immigration goes extremely fast as well. We wait around the gate area for a couple of hours using a combination of sitting with mostly standing and stretching. Once on the plane to Ontario, we are once again amazed that the shorter the flight, the bigger the seat. That just makes no sense whatsoever. Todd’s dad picks us up at the Airport and we are presented with a big container of Judy’s homemade split pea soup. Yesssss! What a great welcome home.
On Wednesday, Todd begins his drive to Utah to pick up Philip and Ali for the holiday break. Remember, when we left it was 85 degrees. It takes him over 29 hours to make the drive that normally takes 5 hours because there is snow everywhere. Roads are closed. He sleeps in his car in Barstow. The freeway is closed again in Baker, the Mojave Desert. There is snow in the Mojave Desert for crying out loud.
Toto, we’re not in South America anymore.
